Louise Phillips brings more than 15 years experience of working with children across various settings to her storytelling performances, workshops, and writing and advice on early childhood matters. In addition she has three children of her own to explore the wonders of childhood with.
Louise is fascinated by the capacity of storytelling to speak to both the hearts and minds of listeners. Her doctoral study titled "Young children's active citizenship: Storytelling, stories and social actions" found that through storytelling young children were provoked to take social action against injustices. The art and pedagogy of storytelling with young children is shared in her storytelling workshops and published articles (see sample of these posted on the Professional Writing page). Since 1993 Louise has been training adults in childrens services with a style that embraces humour and relevance to practical application. She firmly believes that learning should be enjoyable for both adults and children. And a good story can readily do this.
