Louise Phillips brings more than 15 years experience of working with children across various settings to her storytelling performances, workshops, and writing and advice on early childhood matters. In addition she has three children of her own to explore the wonders of childhood with.

This experience of working with children inspired the development of her storytelling skills, as she discovered how quickly a child’s imagination can be captivated by the intimacy of storytelling . This lead Louise to sharing tales with young children and adults at festivals, outdoor events, libraries, museums, galleries, bookshops, cafes, schools, preschools, and child care centres. In fact Louise has and will tell stories anyplace where there are listening ears and curious minds.

Louise is fascinated by the capacity of storytelling to speak to both the hearts and minds of listeners. Her doctoral study titled "Young children's active citizenship: Storytelling, stories and social actions" found that through storytelling young children were provoked to take social action against injustices. The art and pedagogy of storytelling with young children is shared in her storytelling workshops and published articles (see sample of these posted on the Professional Writing page).

Since 1993 Louise has been training adults in children’s services with a style that embraces humour and relevance to practical application. She firmly believes that learning should be enjoyable for both adults and children. And a good story can readily do this.
