Louise Phillips brings more than 15 years experience of working with children across various settings to her storytelling performances, workshops, and writing and advice on early childhood matters. In addition she has three children of her own to explore the wonders of childhood with.

This experience of working with children inspired the development of her storytelling skills, as she discovered how quickly a child’s imagination can be captivated by the intimacy of storytelling . This lead Louise to sharing tales with young children and adults at festivals, outdoor events, libraries, museums, galleries, bookshops, cafes, schools, preschools, and child care centres. In fact Louise has and will tell stories anyplace where there are listening ears and curious minds.

Louise is fascinated by children’s responses to storytelling, which has inspired her journeys of indepth research into children and storytelling (she is currently enrolled in a PhD on this topic). This knowledge is shared in her storytelling workshops and published articles Storytelling: The seeds of children’s creativity and The Role of Storytelling in Early Literacy Development (these articles are available to download from the Professional Writing page).

Since 1993 Louise has been training adults in children’s services with a style that embraces humour and relevance to practical application. She firmly believes that learning should be enjoyable for both adults and children. And a good story can readily do this.
